A: To adopt a cat from our rescue organization, you must first submit an adoption application. Applications are required for all potential adopters. You can find our application below, and it’s quick to fill out. The more details you provide, the better!
*Please submit only one application, but be sure to include the name(s) of all the cats you’re interested in adopting.
A: As a small, all-volunteer organization with limited staff and resources, we are not able to answer general questions about each cat available for adoption. We provide you with as much information about the cat as possible in their listings on Petfinder. If you’d like to learn more about a specific cat, please submit an adoption application. If we think you might be a good match for one of our cats, a member of our adoption team will contact you via email within 2-4 days. *Please check your spam folder, as our emails might be flagged. You can submit your application online using the link below. Just one application is needed but please include the names of all the cats you’re interested in adopting.
A: We review every application we receive, and it typically takes us 2-4 business days to respond to most applicants. If we think you might be a good match for one of our cats, we’ll reach out via email with the next steps to be completed to be approved. Please be sure to check your spam or junk folders, as our email may end up there. *We can only reach out to those applicants that we believe would make the best match for one of our cat(s).
A: We have a thorough process in place to ensure our cats are placed in the best possible home, therefore we will ask all potential adopters who pass the first step (application submission) to submit/complete the following steps;
- 2 + personal references
- 1+ veterinary reference
- in-home or virtual home tour
- copies of your pet policy from the rental manager or landlord (if you rent)
- 1+ alternative caretaker(s) identified for the cat that is not part of your household
- schedule a phone interview with a member of our adoption team
*Submission of the above is not a guarantee that you will be approved to adopt a cat, as we also match cats based upon other factors including the cat's temperament to the adopter's lifestyle.
A: We are an all-cat rescue organization dedicated to reducing the number of cats in shelters, with a focus on purebred and purebred mix cats. When an owner surrenders a purebred cat to us, and the cat was originally purchased from a breeder, we may receive the cat's pedigree or "breeder's papers" to verify its purebred status.
However, many of our cats come from shelters and rescues across the country, or they are rescued from the Middle East (Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and UAE). These cats may be purebreds or purebred mixes, often identifiable by their facial features, size, shape, coat type, color, or other markings found in a purebred cat. In most cases, we do not have pedigrees or "breeder's papers" for these cats.
As some adopters will focus primarily on the breed of the cat that they want to adopt, we believe adoptions should be based upon matching the right cat to the right home/adopter. This includes ensuring that the cat's individual personality, needs, and temperament match the potential adopter's lifestyle and what they may be looking for in their new cat.
A: The Adoption fee is non-negotiable. Our fee is higher for purebred or purebred mix cats, and any kitten under 12 months of age. Your (tax deductible) adoption donation will cover the following;
- Veterinary exams
- Spay/Neuter surgery
- Full vaccinations (2 x distemper/FVRCP and feline rabies)
- All Blood Tests - FIV, FLeV, Heartworm, in some cases additional blood work
- Anti-Parasitics - all cats are dewormed, treated for fleas/ticks, ear mites.
- Microchipped - All cats have a registered microchip
*If the cat is traveling from overseas the adoption fee may be higher to also cover all travel passes/fees into the USA.
A: If a cat is listed on our website, it is available at the time you submit your application. We immediately remove a cat from the site if it has a confirmed potential adopter. We strive to match each cat with the best adopter based on their individual needs and lifestyle. In some cases, we may determine that the cat(s) you applied for are better suited for another adopter according to our matching criteria.
Many of our available cats are also cross-posted by our rescue partners across the USA and abroad to increase their chances of finding a home, as there are over 200 cats in need of homes. If the cat you applied for is adopted by someone else, we will notify you and offer you the option to either apply to adopt another available cat or withdraw from the process.
A: Some of the cats available for adoption are currently in our cattery in Northern NJ, but most of the purebred cats are still located overseas. We prefer to arrange transportation for the cats located overseas once an approved adopter has been secured, as we have limited slots available on each flight to the USA. If a cat is currently located in one of NJ local foster homes or in our cattery, an approved adopter can meet them in person. This will be further discussed with you if you’re approved to adopt the cat(s).
A : Our adoption contract includes a "no questions asked" return policy for all cats. This means you can return the cat to us at any time, during the duration of the cat's lifetime, if for any reason you can no longer care for the cat(s). However, we strive to ensure that our cats truly find their "forever home," and we hope to never see our adopted cats without a home again. This is why we will ask all potential adopters to have a plan in place for their cat(s) if a situation were to arise and you were unable to care for them, short or long term.
*We will request that any potential adopter(s) provide us with at least one designated caretakers for the cat(s) that you wish to adopt. These caretakers should be able to take care of your cat(s) if for any reason you are unable to, whether temporarily or long-term.
A : Yes, All of our cats receive a thorough examination and care from our veterinarians before adoption. Each cat is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and tested for FIV and FeLV (feline leukemia). We also provide additional veterinary care for any cat showing symptoms of an underlying condition. All potential or diagnosed conditions will be disclosed to adopters prior to adoption. You will receive all medical records, vaccination certificates, and any other relevant paperwork upon adoption. No cat will be adopted if it has been diagnosed with or is currently undergoing any medical treatment.
A : Yes, All approved adopters have the option to meet one or more of the adoptable cats at our cattery in Northern NJ. However, most of our purebred and purebred mix cats are currently overseas with our rescue partners. These cats are typically transported once we have secured at least one adopter for each cat, as we have a limited number of slots available on each flight. Priority is given to cats with an adopter already in place. If you are selected as a potential adopter for a specific cat, we will discuss the details of arranging a meeting with you.
A : Yes, this is a possibility, but it depends on the individual cat. We evaluate this option on a case-by-case basis, as each cat has unique needs. Some cats do best in a home without other cats, while others need other cat companions. Some should go directly to an adopter's home because they may not adapt well to frequent changes. If you're interested in becoming a foster volunteer for one of our cats, please fill out our volunteer application below.
A: We adopt cats within a 200 mile range from our location in New Jersey, usually this includes; New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Adopters must be able to meet the cat(s) at our cattery in Northern, New Jersey to adopt them. Cats must be driven home as we do not allow our cats to travel by mass-transit, bus, train or plane.
